Can you do a master's without a bachelor's degree?

    The legitimate routes

    Admission with advanced standing on the basis of professional experience: the institution judges that documented senior practice demonstrates master's-level readiness. This is most common in management, business and some professional fields.

    Admission on the basis of an equivalent qualification: a professional body qualification, a diploma benchmarked at degree level, or an overseas award that is not called a bachelor's but sits at the same framework level.

    Admission via a bridging or pre-master's programme, which fills the gap formally before the master's begins.

    What is not legitimate

    Any provider offering a master's with no assessment of your background, no entry requirements at all, or a degree awarded primarily for a fee and a CV should be treated with caution. So should claims that experience is 'converted' into a bachelor's degree certificate.

    The practical test is recognition: whether the awarding body is recognised in its own jurisdiction, and whether the award will be accepted where you intend to use it — by an employer, a regulator, or a doctoral admissions panel.

    How an experience-based application is judged

    Expect to submit a detailed CV, a structured account of your responsibilities mapped against the programme's entry expectations, evidence of written and analytical capability, employer verification and often an interview. Some institutions ask for a short piece of academic writing to test readiness.
